Edinburgh Tattoo - Departs
4, 10, 11 and 17 Aug 2008
 |
The Edinburgh and
Military Tattoo is one of the finest shows on earth. Combine this
fantastic display with exploring the wonderful Scottish scenery. |
3 Day Break (10 and 17 August
2008)
Day 1: Travel from a local
joining point, arriving at our hotel this evening for a two night stay.
Dinner
Day 2: EDINBURGH and MILITARY TATTOO. Walk the Royal Mile, the
historically linked streets that run through the heart of Edinburgh's
Old Town. There is also a great choice of pubs, restaurants and tea
shops to try when you are not exploring. In the evening, we take our
seats for the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, first performed in 1950 as the
Army in Scotland's contribution to the Edinburgh International Festival.
Today, with its unique blend of music, ceremony, entertainment and
theatre, set against the amazing backdrop of Edinburgh Castle, it's one
of the world's greatest shows.
Breakfast
Day 3: GRETNA GREEN. On our return journey, we visit Gretna
Green, a wedding venue for eloping couples since 1745. The area is
steeped in romantic history of couples running away and being married
'over the anvil' by the blacksmith. In those days, one could not marry
in England and Wales before the age of 18 without parental consent. It
now has a veritable 'wedding industry' all of its own. Continue our
journey home. Breakfast
5 Day Break (4 and 11 August 2008)
Day 1: Travel by Silver
Service from a local joining point, arriving at your hotel this evening
for a 4 night stay. Dinner
Day 2: STIRLING and TROSSACHS. We travel through the hills,
mountains and lochs of The Trossachs to Stirling, the ancient capital of
Scotland. From the castle, the surrounding landscape is a wonder, and is
also known as 'Braveheart Country', made famous by Hollywood's
interpretation of the life of William Wallace, Scotland first freedom
fighter.
